1st Birthday

A couple from Oakland ordered cupcakes for their son's 1st birthday.
It was fun to make these cupcakes, given some the flavor choices were Birthday and Bubblegum. The cake featured in the photo is homemade, provided by the couple, looks amazing. I think they look great together!

What great photos!! But I can't take credit for them. They were taken by the father of the birthday boy. His name is Gani Pinero and he's an amazing photographer.

The best part........

.......... besides eating tons of cupcakes is decorating them ! I still get a bit of a thrill when I finish baking the cupcakes and making the frosting, because then comes the art. How to design all these little mini cakes? I love choosing which color and flavor will end up on each cupcake. This is a little snippet of how it all goes down~

~ from a distance it almost looks like mint ice cream- up close-->it's mint frosting
that will end up on ........

.....this classic size cupcake.~

.....topped with mini chocolate chips and a candy pine tree and garden knome. I couldn't resist buying these candy shaped knomes. They're so cute. (Any 'Amelie' lovers?)

Birthday at the Uptown

These pictures were taken at the Uptown for my friend Jessica's Birthday!
I made chocolate raspberry cupcakes & a new flavor- "birthday cupcakes" (buttermilk cake w/ fudgy chocolate frosting). The guys in the photos started attacking the cupcakes- no joke. It was hilarious! I took that as a good sign.

Dinner & Dessert

I had the best dinner last week. Potluck style, my favorite (takes so much pressure off!) and I was in charge of the dessert ( what do you think I brought?). We were all so impressed with dinner that by the time it was ready all we wanted to do was snap pictures of our wonderful presentation.

I love this picture~ sometimes we need to be one with our wine~
